Now I can't afford to buy a house
'I just got my friggin water bill! HOLY $#!T There's gonna be a lot of dead lawns around the IE if my bill is any indication. Last month $50, this month $260!!! I used the exact same amount of water as last year (give or take a cup or two). They must have my baseline amount set the same as a 500 s/f apartment.

You might be cheaper buying bottled, or having it deliver to your house with a water bill like that.
Uggg, don't want to see ours. We're renting and the owner likes to keep it nice and green.

I dunno, I've enver had a bill even remotely close to this one. I'de guess last year was probably around $60. I usually top out around $100 in the summer when I have to water the grass more. Right now I only water 2 or 3 days a week.
I found out that they sent out some form that you had to fill in indicating the number of people in your house and some other stuff. I don't recall seeing it. So hopefully all I need to do is get that resolved and that will fix this. Jez I almost had a meltdown... I could water the lawn with bottled water cheaper than that.
Are you sure you used the same amount as last summer? One leaky toilet can run up a bill more than you would believe, and you wouldn't notice that you were using more water, really.
The amount used is on the bill for both this year and last year. It was nearly identical. I filled in the form and sent it in. They have approved my request for a "variance"./ So now I just have to wait and see what next months bill looks like....
