Price per Zip code

Here's the Feb report on the median prices per zip code. Also listed is the median price per sq/ft. I have highlighted the Zips where the median price was under $100k and the where the median price per sq/ft was under $100 s/f. The median price per square ft is now under $100 in nearly 50% of the Riverside zips. And it's getting close in many more.

Great chart again X! Any idea where to find a chart with price per sq ft in the zips historically? I wonder what the medians were in 2000 or 1997. When will Riverside city drop below 100?

I notice that in many of the outlying regions, the typical house size appears to be less than 1500 sq. ft. (estimated by median price/median per sq. ft.) implying that even at current prices the big McMansions out there are just sitting. It looks like what's selling are the "rentable" smaller places. I would expect people who buy out there to live would be mostly people who really want big houses so it's mostly investors buying.

So between investor-heavy purchasing and continued oversupply on the large houses I expect further drops, even from these rather cheap prices (in the remote areas). That has grim implications for the less-remote areas (Riverside,, Corona, etc.) - they will have to compete with these outlying areas, and the true demand for bubble housing appears to be overwhelmed.
